Getting involved is the most important part of our sporting ethos, although we still strive for excellence in all sporting activities. Our school has won Inter-Catholic Swimming, Athletics and Hockey on numerous occasions and features top national and provincial representatives in all disciplines.
We award sport scholarships based on merit. We encourage team spirit and school pride in sport programmes. We strive for physical fitness and well-being. Sport is an important part of the school’s all-encompassing and balanced education which develops body, soul and mind. Our high school girls are encouraged to participate in at least one sport per season.
Our A-Team takes part in the Premier League and our B-Team takes part in the A-League. Our girls also participate in the Midmar Mile, and the annual St Henry’s Invitational Gala in Durban.
We participate in four major championship regattas each year – the Gauteng Schools’ Rowing Championships, the South African Schools’ Boat Race in Port Alfred, the Buffalo Regatta and the South African Schools’ Rowing Championships.
Our girls play in the District 13 league and the St Andrew’s 1st team Netball Festival. We attend an optional netball camp for additional skills and training.
In the 3rd Term we compete in the Private Schools' League and we also take part in the Top 10 Schools Competition in Naboomspruit.
We are a part of the Southern’s Tennis League and take part in the Inter-High A and B tournaments. Our girls attend the optional annual Sun City Tennis Tournament.
We take part in the Eastern Gauteng Provincial Trials and Southern’s Hockey League. The school also competes in the annual Pullen & Howell Trophy. The optional Kearsney College Hockey Training Clinic is a popular annual tour.
We compete in the SANESA Ekurhuleni Inter-schools’ competitions. This consists of four Qualifiers, from which the four best riders in each discipline are chosen to represent Gauteng at the Finals.
Our Deputy Head Girl of Sport, Sinead Meyer, will talk you through sport at HRS.
