Holy Rosary School/Culturals

We believe that cultural activities are an essential and integral part of the intellectual, social and emotional development of our girls.  We offer a wide cultural programme in which our girls are encouraged to participate.

Our programme includes: Choir, Marimba bands, Orchestra, Gospel group, Djembe Drumming and our HRS band, with one-on-one instrumental tutoring (offered after school hours at an additional cost). Various concerts, performances and competitions take place throughout the year.

Public Speaking

Our girls are encouraged to develop good communication skills and Public Speaking is an effective medium in which to do this. Annual events include Inter-Schools’ Public Speaking Competition and Speech Festivals.

Each year our girls are involved in either Inter-house Plays or a Major Production (produced in conjunction with neighbouring schools). We regularly participate in the Edenvale Amateur Dramatic Society’s Festival (EADS). On a number of occasions, Holy Rosary has won this competition. 2018 marked the first time Holy Rosary entered FEDA (Festival of Excellence in Dramatic Arts) - the most prestigious High School One-Act Play Festival. Girls can attend internationally-recognised Trinity College London Drama lessons and examinations as an extra-curricular activity.

Chess Club

Chess offers our girls the opportunity to further develop their logical and analytical skills, discipline and collaboration and of course a great deal of fun. Our team participates in tournaments and competitions with other schools.
